New found love
Running was always just part of fighting. That necessary evil that improved our stamina and kept our weight down. "Joy" wasn't necessarily the first word that came to mind when it came to running. However, over the past few months, running has really become something truly eye opening. The craziest part is not even physical benefits. I work out enough to not have to worry about it. Although it is nice to get to eat almost anything and not have to worry about it, because I'm burning through calories like it was the U.S. deficit.
The benefits are mental. Long distance running is almost like an active meditation. Not once do you come back from running not being in a good mood! Have a lot of stress? Have a lot bs going on in your life? Try going out running for an hour and see how you feel when you come back! Martial arts will always be my true love but I have a new found love for running.
Talking about martial arts, for those who don't know, me and Shane Fazen of Fight Tips started a podcast, something we were talking about for a long time that finally materialized. We have some really great guests coming on and in our latest episode, Michelle "Karate Hottie" Waterson of the UFC and her husband Josh came on and talked fighting with us. The podcast is called H.U.M.A.N. "Humanity's United Martial Arts Network".
As always, feel free to drop me a comment and hopefully you can support our run of "50for05". Rim 2 Rim 2 Rim of the Grand Canyon. For more info, click here.
